Inviting Seth Godin to speak in Utah

Phil Burns has started an effort to get Seth Godin to come speak in Utah next month. In order for this to work, he needs 500 people to sign up to pay $50 to hear him speak, and as a bonus, receive five copies of his new book, The Dip.

30 people have signed up as of this writing. We need 470 more by April 30th.

I am just curious why we should pay on the order of $2500 for someone to come and speak. I can go to OSCON for that myself. Yes, I know its not the same, $50 v $2500, but still, that's a lot of money for a marketing guy.
